Blood test on mother detects fetus’s sex at five weeks

A blood test of a pregnant woman can now detect the presence of a Y-chromosome, allowing the gender of the fetus to be determined as early as five weeks into the pregnancyVery useful in some circumstances, but I’m worred that this will aggravate the gender-bias problem in some countries (where women abort female fetuses because they want a boy).  Although, I suppose it depends on how cheap the test is, and how easy it would be for governments to ban the equipment necessary to do it…
